The Begining
The Club owes its origin to Past President Gordon Man of the Rotary Club of Falmouth. It was Gordon who persuaded his Club of the possibilities of such a move, and it was Gordon who initiated and organised the procedures which led to its formation.
Following are the dates of the various steps taken in the club’s formation.
16-02-1972. Application made to RIBI by the district extension officer, Frank Blackburn, for blank survey sheet.
10-01-1973. Completed survey forms sent to RIBI for approval.
15-01-1973. 2nd copy of survey forms sent to RIBI secretariat.
06-02-1973. Survey approved by RIBI Extension Committee.
05-04-1973 to 19-07-1973. Successive key men in Penryn enlisted : Dennis Walters, Ted Hitchens, Jeff Druce & Bill Bray.
05-09-1973. First meeting of the provisional formation committee held to select further prospective members. Held in the Anchor Hotel, Penryn. At this stage the Falmouth Club was made aware of its responsibilities as the Foster Club.
11-12-1973.The inaugral meeting of the Interim Rotary Club of Penryn.
20-03-1974. Application for Membership received.
30-04-1974. Charter Presented to the Rotary Club of Penryn.

Some milestones in the clubs history
Initially, the club met at 12.45pm each Wednesday at the Anchor Hotel, Penryn ( long since demolished) and then at the Kings Arms Penryn. It then moved to the Greenlawns Hotel, Falmouth until 4th October when it became an evening club meeting on Tuesdays at 6.00pm and ttransferred to the Hotel St Michael’s. On 1st August 2006 the venue was changed to the Falmouth Beach Hotel.
On 1st July 1989 Rotary Clubs were opened to Lady Members.
