Winners Cups and trophies were presented to the Fist Lady and First Senior Lady in the 5K Fun Run held on April 6 together with the winners and runners up in the junior and children’s races. First Gent, First Senior Gent and First Team representative were unavailable

Our Charity football match at the Penryn Football Ground with Cornish Veterans V Plymouth Argyle Veterans ended with The Cornish “boys” winning by 4-0. £178.00 was raised and will made up to £200 and split between the two youth football clubs. Photos on www.falmouthphotos.com

Our Spring Concert featuring the Mabe Ladies Choir and the Goonvrea Singers was a resounding success with a sum of £520.00 being raised for international charities

Our Fun Run starting at the Penryn Rugby Club saw 65 runners completing the course with a total (to date) of £1400 raised for the Precious Lives appeal for the building in Cornwall of a new Children’s Hospice. Photos on our Fun Run - latest news page and results on the Fun Run results page

Our distribution of funds commenced with a cheque for £100 presented to Jil l Grant Chairman of the Penryn & Falmouth Sea Cadets. other amounts were £200 for the Cornwall Hospice care, £250 to Shelterbox, £100 to Cornish Urological Trust Fund, £50 to Jubilee Sailing Trust, £150 to Kids out and £100 to PANTS

Our Christmas collection taken at Asda and Pioneer has raised a sum of £1109.95. We offer our thanks to all the generous people who contributed. The proceeds will be used for rotary and local charities and good causes. With your help we can together make a difference.
Tue 20 Nov. New Member - John Richardson
President Allan extended a warm welcome to our latest new member, John Richardson.
John has emigrated to Cornwall from Stafford which, according to the writers information is somewhere in the wilds beyond Plymouth.
An Electrical Engineer and a past member of the Rotary Club of Stafford Castle, John and his wife Sheila now live at Carnon Downs
Sat 25 Aug. Penryn Fair Day
10 of our members attended the Fair Day to assist the organisers as Stewards and also to run our own stall with games as a fund raising event. The games and sales raised an amount of £96.60
Our commiserations go to our three members who acted as Traffic Control Stewards. Whilst the event and required road closures were well advertised, a number of inconsiderate persons still attempted and demanded vehicle access to the town. Tempers became somewhat frayed when they were denied access and our members were the object of a fair amount of verbal abuse. Not a pleasant experience especialy when they had offered their time freely for the benifit of the community.
Sun 15 July 2007 Presidents Barbecue
Due to a complete lack of the Presidents culinary skills and the possible threat of law suits from guests with severe stomach upsets caused by burnt offerings, the traditional Presidents Barbecue was changed this year to a horse race
 Originally arranged to take place in the Presidents garden the venue was changed to the Falmouth Beach Hotel to ensure the Punters were kept dry. The horses (left) were kindly supplied by the PSP stables in Falmouth and yes, they did resemble donkeys but thanks to some research were found to be a special Penryn breed previously thought to be extinct, but that’s another story !!
Approximately 50 members and guests attended for the racing plus strawberries and cream. The President Allan who together with his youngest son Allan (that caused a bit of confusion) ran the tote and admitted that their way of determining the odds was a “complete shambles” and made no mathematical sense whatsoever. So it came as a complete surprise that whilst the day was intended to be a “fun day” a total of £140.00 was raised for local Rotary charities.
 Lady guests were invited to wear suitable hats and once some brave person could be persuaded to be the judge ( John Pearce from Falmouth Rotary - no one from Penryn would risk it), the prize for best hat was awarded to Peggy Abbott second on left.
One slight hiccup during the racing occurred when the youngest guest Christopher aged 4 (grandson of the judge) took a shine to horse No. 1 and made numerous attempts to abscond with it and take it home. !! It is believed that negotiations and bribery involving ice cream, sweets and biscuit’s solved the problem
A running commentary on the proceedings was provided by the Presidents guest David Addinall who at times managed to not only confuse the horses and get them running in different directions but also totally confuse the punters as to what was going on - this confusion allowed the Tote operators to further “adjust” the odds.
Winners of the first 5 races plus another selected by the Tote were entered into the last race after having been auctioned off by our now famous auctioneer Frank. He managed one way or another to abstract a total of £64.00 from budding race horse owners. The winning horse Frisky Farrier which had been bought by Brian Farrier won the last race and the winners cup.

Tue 26 June Club Handover
Thirty-four members and guests sat down for a meal at the Falmouth Beach Hotel, before the ceremony of handing over the Chain of Office to the incoming club  president for the Rotary year 2007-2008.
David Glover welcomed the new President - Allan Phillips into Office. Allan is a retired Ship Technical Manager.
He has been a member of the Penryn Rotary club for a number of years which was interrupted when his job took him away from the area. He rejoined the club on his retirement and return to his home in Penryn. Allan’s wife Jackie owns and runs a florist shop in Falmouth.
